On the morning of November 6, at the 35kV Xiaohu Substation of Jianyang Power Supply Company, power supply employees were using a device called "remote removal of foreign matter from the power grid" to remove three hornet cells in the substation.

In the 35 kV Xiaohu substation, hornet nests in the grooves of the transformer. There are 3 hornet nests nearly 30 cm long, which prevent the staff from approaching. As in the past, in order to ensure the safety of the power supply line, the hornet nests need to be cleaned. Putting on a thick bee-proof suit not only consumes a lot of physical strength, but also brings more inconvenience to the removal work. To this end, the Jianyang Power Supply Company has used a new weapon in its transformation—the remote removal of foreign matter from the power grid. The equipment is composed of three parts: laser launching gun, operating platform and manipulator. The author saw at the scene that after the power transmission personnel aimed the laser gun at the hornet's nest, they pressed the button to emit the laser. In just two seconds, white smoke appeared in the hornet's nest. After a while, all the wasps in the hornet's nest were smoked out, and the power-transforming staff cleaned out the remaining hornet nests. In the afternoon of the same day, this new weapon came to the 10-kilovolt Chengju line again, and combined with power outage inspection and repair, the wood beside the bare wire was trimmed.

It is understood that the "laser gun" used on the power channel line has an effective range of 200 meters, which can fully protect the power line from the intrusion of floating objects and improve the reliability of the power supply of the power grid. In general, once the distribution network encounters floating objects that require power outage treatment, it will increase the number of unplanned outages of the distribution line, which directly affects the power outage time of the customer terminal and affects the electricity consumption of citizens' production and life. With the "laser gun" device, the obstacle clearance work can be completed in a live state, reducing the customer's power outage time. It is reported that this is the first time that laser barrier removal technology has been applied to power supply lines within Jianyang Power Grid. With the successful application of laser barrier removal, the system's complete foreign body removal method will be more complete, which will provide a reliable guarantee for the safe operation of the power grid. .
